Architectural & Game Design Learnings

In complex simulations, interdependent variables (such as pitch friction and weather humidity) can create non-linear output spikes. Decoupling mathematical models into isolated pure functions makes parameter tuning predictable and testable.
2. Statistical Calibration at Scale
Simulating believable sports outcomes requires extensive sample sizes. Individual batting averages and strike rates require hundreds of simulated innings across varied matchups to ensure statistical consistency and competitive balance.
3. UI/UX Refinement
A simulation game lives and dies by its data presentation. Investing time into structured information design (drawing inspiration from Refactoring UI) significantly improved readability across dense player rosters and match scorecards.
Infrastructure Considerations
As the active player base expands, maintaining cost-effective infrastructure remains top of mind. Turso continues to perform exceptionally well for database workloads at ~40% tier capacity, while edge functions keep response latencies low across global users.
